Road Trip to the Chrism Mass

Posted on March 28, 2019 in: General News

On Holy Thursday morning the Archbishop, joined by the priests of the Archdiocese, gather at the Cathedral to celebrate the Chrism Mass. This Mass manifests the unity of the priests with their bishop. Here the Archbishop blesses three oils — the oil of catechumens, the oil of the infirm and holy chrism — which will be used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the Archdiocese for the year. As our Archbishop blesses these three oils at the Chrism Mass this year, our hearts turn to our gracious Lord who bestows His infinite love and mercy to us through these sacraments. Let us also pray for our bishops and the priests who are the ministers of the sacraments in the parish, that they may be the humble and generous servants of the Lord.

Holy Thursday Morning, April 18 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis Mass begins at 10:00am and will conclude about 11:30am We will leave from IHM at roughly 7:30 to find a good parking spot (Mass is crowded!)

If you would like to join us, please call Peggy at the church office (636-398-5270) so we will know how many will be going, and who would be willing to drive. For some of us who have never gone, we’ve heard it’s a quite beautiful Mass. Come with us!
